Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) is unique among the Middle East oil companies in offering an integrated portfolio of upstream and downstream services.

Founded in 1980 as an umbrella organisation to manage the State of Kuwait's rapidly diversifying oil interests, KPC has in less than two decades established itself as a truly international entity, respected by governments and business institutions worldwide as the ambassador of Kuwait's business industry.   Manages the exploration and the production of oil and gas inside Kuwait.

• The Kuwait Aviation Fuelling Company (KAFCO)
  Responsible for supplying aeroplanes with fuel at Kuwait International Airport.

  Controls the marketing and sales of crude oil petroleum products and liquified petroleum gases (KPG) outside Kuwait.

In pursuit of its objectives of diversification and flexibility, KPC expanded its foreign operations to include:

• Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC)
  Responsible for overseas oil and gas exploration and exploitation.
• Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI)
  Runs the downstream acquisitions in Europe that have effectively made KPC a fully integrated operation from well-head to petrol pump.

The acquisition of the U.S. Company Santa Fe International Company in December 1981, now known as Santa Fe International Holding (Cayman) which is specialised in the exploration and development of oil and gas reserves and worldwide contract drilling services, has greatly expanded KPC's worldwide activities.
